“The Law in Me Is Fulfilled for I Have Come to Fulfil the Law”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

When Jesus had reached a point in His teachings wherein He told the people that old things had passed away, and that all things had become new, He perceived that some of His hearers were wondering about the meaning of what He said.

Among the Jews, anciently, it was customary during the discourses of the masters to ask questions concerning matters not clearly understood by them. It seems that the Nephites had perpetuated that course of action, for, at this particular time in His address Jesus became aware, possibly through their questions, that some of His hearers did not understand what He said about old and new things. (III Nephi 12:46-47) This gave Him occasion to explain this important subject-"The Law is fulfilled that was given unto Moses." (v. 4) Jesus said unto them: "Marvel not that I said unto you, that old things had passed away, and that all things had become new.
