Book of Mormon Context: The Book of Mormon provides no information at all on Nephite marriage practices. However, since Jesus gave them these instructions on divorce, presumably the larger context of the Mosaic law also applied to them. Regardless of the technicalities, however, the Savior communicated the essentialness of the marriage relationship.

Comparison: There are only two changes in these verses. “Written” is replaced by “said.” “Verily, verily, I say unto you” (v. 32) is obviously a New Testament phrase, but it obscures the more significant parallelism of “but I say unto you” from Matthew.
