These three verses created more contention for the Savior than anything else he said in the Sermon on the Mount. These verses even troubled the Apostles. Later they talked to him about it. His discussion with them will be found in Mark 10:10-12. It is also interesting that the Pharisees tried to trick Jesus by quoting Moses to prove that Jesus had contradicted the great prophet.
