John Welch notes that in several passages in the Sermon at the Temple, subtle changes bring the divine influence more explicitly to the surface. When Jesus spoke in Palestine, he had said, "one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all is fulfilled" (Matthew 5:18), but in Bountiful he affirmed that one jot or tittle "hath not passed away from the law, but . . . it hath all been fulfilled (3 Nephi 12:18) (see also 3 Nephi 12:46-47) [John W.
