After this dreadful catalogue of destruction, the Messiah speaks to the survivors. They are not perfect, only “more righteous” than the slain. They still require conversion. In the midst of terrible destruction and widespread death, Yahweh, who came in his fury, compassionately invites them to turn to him “that I may heal you.”
