What does the people’s response to Nephi’s miracles teach us about signs and conversion?

Thomas R. Valletta

“The prophet Nephi of approximately A.D. 32 was so righteous and had such great faith that ‘angels did minister unto him daily.’ (3 Nephi 7:18.) Although Nephi used this power to try to bless his people (he even raised his own brother from the dead), the wicked people ‘were angry with him because of his power.’ (3 Nephi 7:20.) Thus, despite the great signs and miracles that had been performed for the people, they still disbelieved. Once again this indicates that signs do not convert unless the conversion of faith follows” (Ludlow, Companion to Your Study of the Book of Mormon, 258).
