As in verse 2, Mormon sees righteousness as resulting in prosperity. Here he spells out that moral. Because of righteousness, the people experience peace, prosperity, “great order,” and just laws (v. 4). As a result, they “wax great” and could prosper “continually”—unless they “fall into transgression.” There is a direct connection between peace, prosperity, and righteousness. Those things go together. Rejection of righteousness reverses the trend and leads to destruction.
