“The People Had Continual Peace”

W. Cleon Skousen

Certainly Gidgiddoni and the chief judge Lachoneus deserve high praise for saving the Nephites and generously treating the survivors of the enemy forces. The reconstruction of the roads and cities must have been tremendous. But by 29 B.C. the traditional weakness of the people began to manifest itself. It seemed as though these people had built a prosperous and highly developed society almost overnight, but the rising prosperity was fatal to them.
