Without small intervening towns that could be pressed into supplying food and porters, the Gadiantons would have to bring food from their homeland, thus increasing both the number of porters and the sheer quantity of material to be transported. The longer the battle or siege, the more difficult it would be to maintain a smooth stream of supplies. Unfortunately, the text never gives us any indication of where these Gadianton holdings were. We may deduce that they were not on the north of the Nephite lands because the Nephites went north to get farther from them.
