In spite of the Nephite belief that they are supported by a god, Giddianhi assures Lachoneous that Giddianhi is supported by a very large army. What is more, this large army stands at the ready to come upon the Nephites and destroy them. As an unstated witness to this is the previous success that the Gadiantons had against the armies of the Nephites. Contrary to this, and perhaps giving the Nephites hope, is their few successes against the Gaddianton armies (see 3 Nephi 3:17).
