Even with such spectacular and extra-human signs, there were still those who did not believe and who tried to maintain the positions that they had prior to the signs. However, the majority shifted to becoming believers, where nonbelievers had been in the majority just a day or two before. Thus, Nephi and others are successful in baptizing many, and that majority of Nephites living the commandments naturally lead to peace in the land, according to the promise of the land.
