The Disappearance of Nephi the Son of Helaman

Daniel H. Ludlow

The great leader Nephi about whom we read so much in the book of Helaman turned the record over to his son Nephi at the beginning of this new book and then "departed out of the land, and whither he went, no man knoweth." (3 Nephi 1:3.) The disappearance of Nephi the son of Helaman is somewhat similar to the disappearance seventy-three years earlier of his great-great-grandfather, Alma the younger. The Book of Mormon provides no further information concerning what became of these two great prophets.
