“Desiring That They Might Be Baptized Unto the Lord”

W. Cleon Skousen

We learn that Samuel had attracted a huge multitude and that is what leads us to assume that he was on a high wall overlooking a market square or a place of popular assembly. An artist's conception of Samuel being attacked with stones and arrows is on page 216 of volume three of the Treasures from the Book of Mormon.

This verse contains a most pleasant surprise. Up to this time we had no indication that Samuel was making any converts with his eloquent appeal. Now we learn that his call to repentance was reaching a considerable number and they are promptly going to Nephi for baptism and instruction.
