Samuel apparently understands that this conversion will not be permanent for the nation and that they will again “dwindle in unbelief.” Nevertheless, they have a promise of ultimate restoration. No doubt Samuel sees the current Lamanite acceptance of the gospel as a precursor to that great acceptance in the promised last days.
