The converted Lamanites have become “firm and steadfast in the faith.” Interestingly, for the third time, one sign of their conversion is that of the people of Ammon: rejection of weapons. (See commentary accompanying Alma 24:15–16 for information on a possible cultural reason for burying the weapons.) Additionally, they “fear to take them up lest by any means they should sin.” This language seems to quote the oath of the people of Ammon. (See Alma 23:7, 24:11–12, and accompanying commentary.) Almost certainly, these new Lamanite converts had the same reason as the people of Ammon for making the same decision.
