Here in Helaman 14:3, the 1874 RLDS edition omitted the preposition in, thus changing the adverbial prepositional phrase “in the night before he cometh” to the adverbial noun phrase “the night before he cometh”. Although this secondary reading will work, there are no examples of readings like that elsewhere in the text. The 1908 RLDS edition restored the correct reading. The critical text will maintain the original in, the reading of both 𝓟 and the 1830 edition.
