Nephi has just recently returned from a long missionary trip to the north. Without taking time to rest, he pours out his soul to the Lord from his garden tower. He has confronted belligerent and antagonistic judges with fervor and boldness; he has been arrested for and then absolved of murder; he has finally gained his freedom and is moving with deep sorrow toward his own home—presumably to rest for a season. And then the Lord intervenes and commands him to declare an ultimatum to the people: repent or perish. What does he do? Immediately and without the slightest hesitation, he commences his assigned task. All of us, when we are weighed down with the responsibilities of family duties and Church obligations—and feel the inclination to withdraw and catch our breath—can take an example from Nephi. When the Lord commands, we must act immediately and with the fervor of faithful disciples.
