Nephi spells out that the judges are attacking him because, as a true prophet, he has not only revealed the murder but also “the wickedness and abominations which are among you” (meaning the Gadianton secret combinations of murder). Having established his bona fides as a prophet, the logical conclusion is that the judges should believe him and repent. Of course, they will not because they would thereby lose their power, elite status, and unhampered access to wealth.
