The modern-day spin tactics of turning upon the accuser (Nephi), and making him the accused, is a tool of Satan and has always been used by his followers (vv. 16–17). As with the five who investigated the chief judge being murdered, Nephi is given an opportunity to testify again (v. 20). We should also note how the five became Nephi’s advocates (v. 18). What the Lord told Joseph Smith applies here: “All these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good” (D&C 122:7).
