Nephi’s “tower sermon” is recounted. He speaks of “the good shepherd” (see the latter half of Alma’s great discourse in Alma 5). It also confirms our understanding of priestcraft. The Lord inspired similar feelings in Joseph Smith: “Their hearts are set so much upon the things of this world, and aspire to the honors of men” that the Spirit of the Lord is withdrawn from men and they are liable to forfeit eternal life (D&C 121:35–38).
Nephi reminded his listeners that the Lamanites did not sin against the light as the Nephites did (compare Alma 24:30).
