As mentioned previously, Nephi went preaching in the land northward for over five years, we have no record of his work in those years, but we will look forward to learning of the things he prophesied (v. 2) when the unabridged records come forth (see 3 Nephi 26:6–12). The text seems to suggest that he could not stay (Helaman 7:3) because it was unsafe after he was rejected. However, his return might also have been directed by revelation, and he would not go against the Lord’s will. Mormon was not impressed to speak further on the matter.
