As weak as Nephi and Lehi were from lack of food, they stood forth to take advantage of this miraculous display of God's power. We learn that the crowd of dignitaries who had come to the prison to see the execution of the missionaries were Lamanites, Zoramites and other dissenters from the Nephites. Verse 49 later tells us that the crowd consisted of over 300 men.
