“The Voice of the People”
This refers to a democratic vote of the people wherein the outcome is determined by the consent of the majority. This principle of elections by the “voice of the people” in the Book of Mormon was based on King Mosiah II’s decision to allow the people to vote for judges to rule over them; he taught that the “voice of the people” will rarely desire that which is “contrary to that which is right” (see Mosiah 29:25-27).
