Culture: The ship that Hagoth built would not have looked like the Spanish vessels that eventually arrived on the east coast of Mesoamerica, nor does it seem probable that the design of Nephi’s ship had been preserved. The far greater likelihood is that the ship would have been similar to those known to have been built in Mesoamerica—that is, a large dugout with raised sides, or perhaps a raft.
