Who was Teancum?

Thomas R. Valletta

Teancum was a noble “Nephite military leader (ca. 67 B.C.) who played a major role in the execution and outcome of the Nephite-Lamanite wars which began with the dissension of Amalickiah and concluded with the defeat of the Lamanites in 60 B.C. Teancum led the army sent by Moroni1 to head off the contentious people of Morianton2 in their ambitious quest for possession of northern lands” (Largey, Book of Mormon Reference Companion, 752).
