Culture: Moroni laments that the Christians are despised. We would expect Lamanites to despise Nephite Christians. Here, however, Moroni is not confronting Lamanites but of Nephites who despise other Nephites who are Christians. Because the Nephite political system allows multiple religious beliefs, religion is no longer a uniform element in the Zarahemla polity. Civil war is brewing over both religion and politics, but the non-Christians are apparently gaining greater popularity than ever before.
