Moroni declares that the Nephite religion has created this victory. Yahweh has been with them. In the polytheistic world of Mesoamerica, the stronger god has prevailed. In the monotheistic world of Nephite religion (a belief in which the Nehors shared), Yahweh has clearly favored one side—the numerical minority—with victory. Moroni is attempting to have Zerahemnah declare a peace and to swear to leave the Nephites alone. If Yahweh has assured the Nephite victory, then the Lamanites should assume that any future attacks would have the same result.
