The leadership of Captain Moroni was again shown as he rallied his forces to drive the Lamanites into one body on the bank of the river Sidon (vv. 48–51). Certainly he had a captive audience to whom he raised the standard of liberty, the army of Lehi on the east bank and Captain Moroni’s army on the west. Because the Lamanites were filled with terror, they were prepared to listen (vv. 51–54). Captain Moroni was evidently interested in more than victory, he desired peace with his Lamanite neighbors (v. 54).
