Alma’s son Corianton needed help understanding some basic doctrine of the kingdom “concerning the justice of God in the punishment of the sinner.” He questioned, by way of justification of his sinning: Is it right that God would punish his own children if he loved them?
Alma would certainly have already taught this principle to his son, but he had to teach it again because sin without repentance causes one to lose knowledge.
