“Do Not Boast in Your Own Wisdom”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

“Do not boast in your own wisdom, nor of your much strength,” but “acknowledge your unworthiness before God at all times.” “Boasting,” Elder Marvin J. Ashton taught, “is to glorify oneself, to talk in a vain or bragging manner, or to talk especially about one’s deeds.”19 King Benjamin advises us to remember the greatness of God and our own nothingness; or, in other words, “humble [our]selves even in the depths of humility” (Mosiah 4:11).
