Dead works, works motivated solely by goals and excellence programs and achievement patterns, eventually deaden the soul and weary the will. The Saints of the Most High are called out of the world and encouraged to forsake the dead letter of ritualistic religion; they are counseled to acquire the Spirit, jettison the works of the flesh, and put on Christ.
As they do so, Christ begins, through his Spirit, to live in them, to prompt and guide and motivate them to good works, to his works. Those who live in Christ seldom become weary of good works, at least of those good works which flow from a regenerate heart. Truly the meek and lowly of heart, those who have surrendered their will and acknowledged Christ as Lord of their lives- these find peace and rest here and qualify for that ultimate rest hereafter.
