“God Has Delivered Me from Prison”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

We note with interest that Alma praises God for rescuing him from circumstances that he would not have been in had he not been on the Lord’s errand in the first place. We find it difficult to imagine that one can be fully devoted to the kingdom of God and at the same time enjoy a life of undisturbed peace and tranquility.

One can hardly expect to faithfully serve the Lord without offending the devil and his minions. The spirits deemed worthy to meet the Savior when he made his visit to the spirit world are described as those who had suffered tribulation in his name and yet had remained firm in the faith. (See D&C 138:13-14.) We suppose that it will be much the same when he returns again.
