The wisdom of our parents’ experience can bless us as we learn to trust in the Lord always, for He will support us in all our trials. Said the Redeemer: “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls” (Matthew 11:29; compare Alma 38:9). He said also: “Learn of me, and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my Spirit, and you shall have peace in me” (D&C 19:23). “Learn of me” is a gentle, loving invitation of the Savior to invest ourselves in His doctrine and principles. “Learn of me” is a suitable expression of concern from parents to their children. Alma uses it; we can use it, too, in the spirit of compassion and devotion.
