Alma’s discourse on faith (Alma 32) is a classic: it sets forth the terms and conditions by which faith in Christ is developed.
It focuses upon how one who is lacking in faith may, through the divine experiment, grow from desire to belief, through a hope that there is and shall be a Christ, to that point at which that person’s faith is perfect and he or she is able eventually to partake of the fruit of the tree of life.
Alma’s plea with the Zoramites is to be patient with that which they do not know at present, to wait upon the Lord, to trust in his infinite and eternal purposes.
