“Almas Desires for the Zoramites”

Monte S. Nyman

Alma comes back to the original experiment as he concludes his speaking to the Zoramites. The conclusion of the experiment, under the scientific method, was that through faith unto repentance they could attain everlasting life. The first part of the verse is a good summary of the experiment. The second part of the verse is an answer to the Zoramite questions after Alma’s first presentation. The Zoramite burden will be light through the Son of God. Jesus gave a similar instruction to the people in the area of Galilee during his mortal ministry.

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light [Matthew 11:28–30]

Alma said the Zoramites could have their burdens lightened through the joy of the Son, if they would. The same is true for us today.
