Zenock is a Hebrew prophet whose writings are included in the brass plates and are thus accessible to the Book of Mormon prophets. He bears solemn witness of the mission of the Son of God (see Alma 33:15)—that the Messiah will yield Himself into the hands of wicked men to be crucified (1 Nephi 19:10) and that He will be the source of redemption for mankind (see Alma 34:7; compare Helaman 8:20). Mormon also comments that Zenock has prophesied of the destruction across the land at the time of the death of the Savior that will effect his (Zenock’s) seed (see 3 Nephi 10:15–17). It seems apparent, therefore, that Zenock is of the lineage of Joseph—although we know nothing of his parentage or the time of his service (except that it must have been prior to 600 BC when Lehi left Jerusalem). We learn from Alma’s speech before the Zoramites that Zenock has been martyred (verse 17). His witness has been preserved in the pages of the Book of Mormon as an added confirmation of the divine mission of the Savior.
