While the Zoramites’ pride disturbs Alma, their rejection of the Messiah, which he describes as “wickedness and infidelity,” causes him such great suffering that he pleads with Yahweh for strength. Zoramite religion might pervert the true gospel, but their social stratification would not directly affect anyone outside of their own community. However, their rejection of the Atoning Messiah will bring eternal damnation on them.
