“Sorrows… Afflictions… Incomprehensible Joy”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
This strange but common threesome capsulizes not only the missionary experiences of the sons of Mosiah but also the experience of countless other missionaries and Apostles of the Lord as they have gone forth to the nations and peoples of the earth. Indeed, the Son of Man himself was “a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief” (Isaiah 53:3-4; Mosiah 14:3-4). Yet notwithstanding the difficulties associated with laboring in the Lord’s cause, we are assured that “eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).
