“Let Us Go Down to the Land of Zarahemla”

Brant Gardner

Ammon and his brethren, who naturally feel responsible for their converts and also realize that they will be in constant jeopardy if they stay in the land of Nephi, urge them to migrate to the land of Zarahemla. While not frequent, the migration of an entire people from one territory to another is not uncommon in Mesoamerica. The Aztecs have their traditions of a migration into Central Mexico. The Quiché and Cakchiquel both have traditions of immigrating into highland Guatemala.
