Now this martyrdom of so many Lamanites caused a violent uprising against the Amulonites. To refresh our memories, these Amulonites were the descendants of Amulon, leader of the wicked priests of king Noah who kidnaped the daughters of the Lamanites. These are the same wicked priests who had persecuted the prophet Abinadi and burned him at the at the stake. Now the remnants of the Lamanites rose up against the Amulonites, and verse 10 suggests wherever the Lamanites could find any Amulonites they were slain. The next two verses tell the story.
