The hatred so often shown by apostates is evidenced by the account of Alma wherein he observes that Nephites who had affiliated themselves with the Lamanites were the greatest offenders against their brethren. Of those of the Anti-Nephi-Lehites who were slain, the "greatest number" met their fate at the hands of the Amalekites who had apostatized from the Nephite form of worship and had gone over to the Lamanites where they were numbered among that people.
The Sacred Record also observes that among those who "joined the people of the Lord, there were none who were apostates from the Nephite Church of God. No Amalekites or Amulonites, nor any who were followers of the policies of Nehor, graced the list of the many who took upon themselves the Name of Christ, but, instead, "were actual descendants of Laman and Lemuel, the sons of the Prophet Lehi."
