Seeing the vast amount of sorrow their actions had brought about, and the destruction their arms had needlessly caused, many of the Lamanites renounced warfare, and in testimony thereof threw down their weapons of war, and swore that they never more would use them. They were appalled by the useless sacrifice, and almost overwhelmed by the battlefield horror. That they, themselves, had been participants in the murder of their brethren "stung" them with such remorse that they "came down even as their brethren, relying upon the mercies of those whose arms were lifted to slay them."
