Mormon assures us that the thousand and five of those slain without resistance were blessed, and had gone to dwell with God (v. 23). This was not merely because they had been slain; he later reassures us that they were righteous and he has no doubt they were saved. Mormon’s assurances seem to verify that the Spirit had been directing the action of those slain. However, Mormon’s main precept is even more pronounced in sustaining that the slain had followed the Lord’s will. After noting that more had been converted than the number slain (v. 26), Mormon attributes their actions to the work of the Lord bringing salvation to his people (v. 27). Thus the slain and the converted had obtained salvation.
