What does Lamoni’s refusal to let Ammon become his servant indicate about the king?

“Lamoni as king could have been jealous of Ammon and his ability to garner such obedience and respect among the Lamanite people. But there is no sign of such a feeling, only love and compassion for Ammon. … Lamoni forbade Ammon to serve him and asked him to preach to his people instead. (Alma 21:19, 23.) It is rare to see one of such authority and position as Lamoni be as accepting and teachable before one so traditionally inferior” (Fronk, “Show Forth Good Examples in Me,” 328).
