... Equality in temporal things has always been a characteristic of God’s Kingdom. Relative to the economic equality of the Nephite Saints following the personal visitation of the Savior, we read: “And they had all things common among them; therefore there were not rich and poor, bond and free, but they were all made free, and partakers of the heavenly gift.” (Acts 4:32)
Finally, in the Doctrine and Covenants we find expressed the will of the Lord to His modern-day Saints, which is in the same vein as that given to them of ancient times: “Nevertheless, in your temporal things you shall be equal, and this not grudgingly, otherwise the abundance of the manifestations of the Spirit shall be withheld.” (D. & C. 78:6)
