“The Spirit of Prophecy”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

God has promised to lead his people in battle when their cause is just, and many a prophet has stood at the head of the army of Israel. It was also the practice of the leaders of his people in ancient times to obtain the blessing and direction of heaven prior to going to war.

In harmony with that tradition, Zoram seeks to learn from Alma (who he knows has the spirit of prophecy) where the Lamanites have taken their Nephite captives in the wilderness. His inquiry is rewarded as the Lord reveals that information to Alma.
