“Our Work is Not Finished; Therefore They Burn Us Not”
It will be remembered that Abinadi told the wicked priests of King Noah’s court that they were without the power to slay him until he had delivered his message (see Mosiah 13:7). This is the principle that Alma is teaching Amulek. When the Lord gives a servant a mission, that person is expected to have full confidence that he will enjoy the protection of heaven in the accomplishment of that which he has been called to do. See Commentary 1:208-9; 2:213.
