What is the message of the prophets? That we accept the gospel, take upon ourselves the divine nature, and become worthy to enter into the rest of the Lord. This is Alma’s final exhortation: to be repentant and faithful. His overwhelming concern for his fellowmen is demonstrated by his anxiety that they—and we—might hearken unto his words and take action by repenting and not procrastinating. The prophets and true Saints have these feelings for their fellowmen (see 2 Nephi 33:3; Enos 1:9,11; Mosiah 28:3; Alma 6:6; Alma 29:9–10; Alma 34:33–35). Alma exhorts us to be humble, watch always, and pray constantly. Faith in the Lord, hope for eternal life, and charity in our hearts will be the outcomes of our quest, and then we will be as He is (see Moroni 7:48).
