Alma was so concerned for the welfare of the people of Ammonihah that it caused him pain (see Alma 13:27, Mosiah 25:11). Such sensitivity is a Godlike characteristic to which Latter-day Saints may well aspire.Notice the counsel Alma gave the people to keep them from being “bound down by the chains of hell” and suffering “the second death” (Alma 13:30; see also Helaman 14:18).
