Alma has reviewed the scriptural story and refers the people to the texts. Not only was Melchizedek’s story in the Nephite scripture, but also the Ammonihahites had a copy of those scriptures. The order of the Nehors did not deny the scriptures. It simply interpreted them differently. Alma warns the people against interpreting this story differently. If they do not understand the scriptures just as Alma has explained them, the Ammonihahites will literally be destroyed.
